Just curious if anyone plays disc golf besides me (erm, used to)? It would be cool to play again and have some buddies to play it with. Found a course in Burns Park in NLR, but haven't gotten out there.

Hmm... supposed to be a course in Jacksonville and another in Conway as well. This would be a good area for it with 4 courses in easy driving distance. It's really strange I can't find a central arkansas disc golf club/league.

That would explain why no one knows what the heck it is. Never heard of it.

I think there is a course in Little Rock. I KNOW there is a course on base. I played a few time in high school. A few people I knew walked with me and just got stoned.

from what i hear, that seems to be a popular "side dish" to disc golf

matter of fact, there's a head shop in NLR that sells disc golf stuff, lol :grin::grin:

Ya... generally disc golf players are college kids and old hippies. So lots of stoners - lots and lots. Most people discover disc golf in college. It's a cheap, fun game even lazy people enjoy. Walk slow, throw disc. And ya... it used to be that the only place to buy discs were in head shops. Now larger sporting good stores are carrying them.

I had an old hippie for a science teacher in high school, that had to take over for our PE teacher for a while. He taught us disc golf. I've played it off-and-on since.

Ironic to say as much on these forums, but I've always described it to people as "off-road golf".

BTW: Checked the one in Jacksonville at Dupree park. It's flooded really bad right now. But looks like a nice quick low-challenge course.

But it's an honest-to-god sport with pros touring and everything.

There's a course in Fayetteville that I've played a couple times. Lot of good obstacles to avoid.

Rumor is that a disc golf course is going in next to Carpenter Dam in Hot Springs.

The crowd I used to hang with in high school was into disc golf a few years back, I'd be down. Hmmm...hows about throwing in some orienteering to make it interesting?

I did end up playing Burns park in NLR. I played the 18 hole red course, and played 5 holes of the blue course before I had to get on home. The red course is very much lefty-friendly. No so much for us right-handed folks that don't like sidearm tosses. Very tight finesse course.

I hurt my back at work a few days after I played it, so haven't been back in the past week.

I suck. Wow... it's been a VERY long time since I played. I was lucky to pull par on most of 'em. Lots of bogeys and only a couple birdies.
